Laid Back or Weak?

The “wolves” that hide behind the veil of rank and authority are really just sheep in wolves’ clothing. A common mistake that people (I refuse to call them leaders) like that make is to pick on those below them that are laid back and quiet because they don’t think they will fight back. They mistake that laid back and quiet style for weakness and get off on what looks to be an easy target to assert their perceived dominance on.

The mistake is made when that sheep pretending to be something they aren’t picks a fight with a lion who for the sake of their team has submitted their ego making them appear to be docile. When in fact, they are a lion that has been laying in wait for that right cause to fight for.

There are many lions out there humbling themselves and quietly going about the business of making people around them better, you’ll know them by how often they are spoken highly of by their crew. The best of these lions can deal with a lot of crap over long periods because they’re patient and smart enough to pick their battles. These lions will deal with micromanagement, lack of support, and other miscellaneous bs with a smile and somehow still find a way to keep morale high.

These are the times when the lions get misread for being weak when in reality they are actually becoming stronger each day by making the best out of dealing with bad bosses. Every day the lion becomes smarter and stronger knowing that one day there will come a time that they will need to set their claws in and stand their ground. What’s interesting is that their pack becomes stronger and closer as well because of the respect they have for their leader, resulting (when the time comes) that the lion isn’t alone in the fight.

So if you are a sheep demanding respect and making sure everyone knows you’re in charge, be careful of who you try to take advantage of and who you think you can bully. Because you very well may be mistaking someone you think can be pushed around for a lion ready to fight for the right cause.

There are times to just smile and Take what comes and there are times to fight.
