It’s OK If You Aren’t OK

I stole this from a post that my wife shared on Facebook yesterday. It’s funny how no matter what you’re going through as long as you keep your head up and eyes open you’ll see or hear exactly what you need to hear.

This speaks directly to a very sad and difficult situation that my family is faced with right now and those words are hard for me to be ok with. I want to handle everything today, I want to find answers and solutions today so that I can fix the hurt. But that’s not possible and more importantly it’s not healthy.

To take it a step further as a parent when your kids are hurting makes this statement even more difficult because you want more than anything to be able to take that pain away from them. But maybe we just need to try to pass on this lesson to them. The lesson that it’s ok if we can’t fix everything today.

Sometimes we have to just survive another day, face what we have to face and take as much ground back as we can and fight another day. How great it would be if no matter what the situation is we could instantly come up with a solution to fix things and remove the the hurt and trials that life can bring. But instead we just have to do our best to chip away at it a little at a time.

For everyone hurting, keep your head up and eyes open, and keep pushing forward. For those that have faced the trials and challenges of life and made it through then be ready to use those situations to help others that are going through them now.

Take care of yourself, take care of your family, and remember you’re not alone.
