The Power Of One

I hear it all of the time; “What difference can one person make?” The answer to that every time as far as I’m concerned is ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

One person can make all the difference in the world and in fact one person has made a difference in the world over and over again. Just think of how many great things we experience on a daily basis that exist because one person stepped up and made a difference, one person stepped out of their comfort zone, or one person stood up for what was right.

Yes many things required teams and organizations to make it to the finish line but way before that there was one person who took the first step.

The fire service needs more people who believe in the power that one person holds. The power of one person not afraid to put in the work even though department standards say they don’t have to. The power of one person willing to stand against bad policy and leadership which will hinder good crews from helping our citizens in need. The power of one person who truly sees the value that each of us holds in our experience and knowledge and who is determined to use that to mentor those around them. And the power that one person holds today to positively impact people around the world.

Keep doing good things, even if you’re doing them alone. Someone is watching and you never know when you might have an impact on someone’s life just because you decided to be one person doing good things.
